  Power Plant in Lumiere
  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

OCM originally commissioned Power Plant back in 2005 for an event at Oxford's Botanic Garden. This summer it was a huge success as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. Power Plant has since been snapped up by Artichoke to be part of the huge sound and light show, Lumiere. Artichoke are world renowned for producing extraordinary events such as Royal De Luxe's The Sultan's Elephant, which sent a 42 tonnes mechanical elephant and twenty feet tall girl parading through central London. The Guardian described Lumiere as 'simply dazzling...four very special nights which no visitor will forget'.

In 2004 OCM presented Siren for the first time at Upper Heyford Airforce base. The piece is a whirling, spinning spectacle of mechanical movement, electronic sound and light. It went on to be selected for the British Council showcase in Edinburgh. International promoters have since taken Siren to festivals in Europe, the United States, New Zealand, and it has just returned from Australia.

  Pre-Season Goings On!
  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We just couldn't resist getting involved with some pre-season music by Trevor Wishart on Friday 5 February. His electroacoustic musings on the human voice transform the iconic voices of Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana and the Reverend Ian Paisley. Acknowledged as one of the world's greatest living electroacoustic composers, this will be fascinating...and not only for those of an electronic persuasion.

This is a Oxford University Faculty of Music event, in association with OCM.
