Soulful electro-fusion outfit weaving hip-hop, trip-hop and jazz with electronic pop and R&B

The third release in the Live Sessions series brings you the soulful sonic explorers Native Dancer fusing hip-hop, trip-hop and jazz with electronic pop and R&B. As Frida Touray (whose melliferous vocals seamlessly glide over the rich grooves) said “Native Dancer are like the moody love-child of Weather Report and Beyonce”.

This electro-fusion outfit was born out of late night jam sessions and listening parties in an east London studio. Amalgamating their wealth of music experience, they formed Native Dancer in 2014. As individual artists the band has performed and recorded with an array of UK talent including Lianne La Havas, The Cinematic Orchestra, Joss Stone, Squarepusher, Mathew Herbert, Dave Okumu and ESKA.

With 2 critically acclaimed EP’s under their belt garnering them loyal fans all over the world, Native Dancer has already gone on to perform at some of the UK’s most prestigious festivals including Love Supreme Festival (The Arena), Womad festival (Bowers and WilkinsStage) and JazzRe:Fest (Southbank).

Tune into the Upcycled Sounds YouTube channel at 1pm on 28th July to watch this exclusive micro-gig before everyone else.
