Leading lights of the improvised and contemporary music scenes come together for an evening of music drawing on classical, jazz, Iranian, Mento and Inuit traditions.

Featuring music by John Adams, Anna Meredith, Tanya Tagaq, Ayanna Witter-Johnson, Soosan Lolavar and Laura Jurd.

This concert brings together the Mercury Prize nominated trumpeter and composer Laura Jurd with champions of new music, Ligeti Quartet.  Together, they have curated an evening of music for the rarely-heard combination of string quartet, trumpet and santoor (played by the British-Iranian musician Soosan Lolavar).

The concert will feature new arrangements from Laura’s award-winning album Stepping Back, Jumping In alongside new pieces for the ensemble in different combinations of solos and duos.
