Autumn Season 2010

Having enjoyed a glorious summer, it’s that time of year again when we all cosy up in our favourite Oxford hot spots and hear some fantastic new music together.

Janek Schaefer's moving, award winning, sound art installation Extended Play brings the season to a close.

To mark the final flourish of summer we launch the OCM season with some stunning music from Palestinian brothers Le Trio Joubran at the North Wall. This gem of a venue has also generously invited us in for two weeks to present one of the highlights of the season, Janek Schaefer’s Extended Play , a deeply touching, warm and hopeful sound installation that won him British Composer of the Year award for Sonic Art in 2008. It celebrates survival and new beginnings, a perfect experience as we welcome in the new year.

On 26th November we invite you to don your winter woollies, grab a ghetto blaster and venture out for a magical musical stroll through the best bits of the city in Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night, where you become the performer.

This autumn OCM is joining forces with some of the best promoters in the city to bring you an array of new musical encounters, including a beautiful new collaboration between Plaid and the Southbank Gamelan Players, a superbly skilful guitarist from Cuba, music from France, Poland and the UK including a very special night paying tribute to the very much missed Kate Garrett, a treasure box of music to raise money for the Ark T Centre. I do hope you’ll come and join us.

Don’t forget that you can also listen to OCM shows you loved or shows you missed on the Downloads section of our website: www.ocmevents.org where you’ll also find lots of information about the season.
