In Autumn 08 OCM brought you a world of Sonic, innovative and imaginative new musical encounters.
As the night’s drew in, OCM launched a season of autumnal treats and marked our 15th birthday with a celebration of dusk in Oxford’s Botanic Garden. Inspired by founding director of OCM, David Bass, now working at Oxford University’s Department of Zoology, The Magic Hour immersed audiences in the sonic and visual delights of nature’s bedtime.
As winter approached we got cosy in a variety of Oxford’s lovely spaces for stories of midnight adventures, sumptuous soundscapes from Mexico, traditional tales from Tyneside and delicate Nordic jazz. In October we returned to one of Oxford’s most atmospheric buildings, St Barnabas Church, to hear Afro-Cuban jazz from Méta Méta as they teamed up with Oxford’s own Afropean Choir, a community music group produced by OCM. Meanwhile, OCM kept busy bringing all this great music to schools and community groups across Oxford, helping to make new music available for all.
