OCM runs a work placement scheme which is currently open to Performing Arts and Music students from Oxford Brookes University. It runs as a module of these two degree courses but space permitting we can sometimes take placements for elsewhere.

During the placement we aim to give you an overview of how OCM works and give you some hands-on experience. Hopefully this will give you the knowledge, experience and contacts to make your first steps into a career in the arts.

»

Funding – How and where OCM gets its money to run its events.

»

Marketing and Press – How we tell people about our events.

»

Production – How we manage all the technical and logistical aspects of our events.

»

Education and Outreach – How we reach audiences that can’t (or don’t normally) come to concerts.

»

Jobs in the Music Industry – This has included Q&A sessions with tour managers, marketing managers, record label bosses and festival organisers.

The placement usually runs for 1 or 2 semesters.

Recent placement students at OCM have gone on to work for BBC, Naxos (record Label) and The Hub (arts consultants).

Contact Tim Hand, Production Manager if you’re interested or have any questions.
