Following the successful OCM Open at Modern Art Oxford last year, we are opening up the stage once again for some of Oxford’s finest and most innovative bands and performers, this time as part of the Oxford Fringe Festival. With a focus on original creations and compositions, we have put together a musical box of treats and surprises from an open submission process. The line up is as follows:
Kate Garret
Beautiful, edgy and thoughtfully arranged songs told with originality, conviction and class. Guitar, vocal, cello and drums weave heavy and heady into the sweet and soulful.
Natureboy
A quiet little fellow with a massive talent, he plays multi-instrumental sweet grooves with melody and Mellifluous mastery. He’s worked with Alice Russell (Tru Thoughts) and Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer) showing off his nu-jazz/ acoustic skills.
Kimwei
Sweeping vocal lines, beautiful and musical inventions using the acoustic guitar to its fullest extent Kimwei’s music grew from an Oxford busking habit now fully realized into mature fresh feeling music.
Ensemble AZUT
Describing their style as French pop, melodramatic popular song and other, finding a more intriguing potential is hard to imagine. Take voice, band neon, guitar, clarinets, double bass and a twist of Tom Waits.
Adam Percussion
playing hang, Switzerland’s answer to the steel pan. Expect to be hypnotized by subtle rhythms and delicate riffs.
