A musical composition by Robert Jarvis for a 'choir' of bats and a beautiful country walk
Presented in collaboration with Outdoor Culture and Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust
This event builds on one of the most popular installations at The Magic Hour in the Botanic Garden Oxford last year. As the bats visit the reserve each evening in search of food, they emit their radar sounds. These are then picked up by Robert’s installation, transforming them into an evocative surround sound musical experience as night falls. Come and enjoy this extraordinary musical experience celebrating this often unheard wonder of nature.
OCM has teamed up with Outdoor Culture and BBOWT to create a unique event based on encounters with nocturnal wildlife in this beautiful part of Oxfordshire. On the night you will discover the work that BBOWT does to conserve this living landscape, and experience Robert’s evocative installation.
Please note:
The event will involve some walking around the nature reserve on easy tracks, with the installation taking place 2km (30 minutes on foot) from the car park, alongside the River Thames. Please wear clothes and footwear suitable for a countryside walk and possible wet weather. Please bring a torch as not all the site will be lit, and keep children under close supervision at all times. The site is wheelchair accessible.
