St Gregory the Great Youth Music Forum

OCM are working with Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School during 2009-10, a period that will cover the autumn and spring seasons. St. Gregory the Great is a specialist Music College and students are encourage to engage with music across the curriculum with all the advantages that this brings to raising standards. OCM hope to enhance the music vision of the school and to help the students to access a rich and diverse range of musical experiences.

A group of sixth form students on the music and performing arts courses were invited to take part in a music forum to look at all aspects of OCM’s program.  The aim of the forum is to help OCM to develop its youth programming. The forum meets regularly in school, is invited to attend OCM concerts and is encouraged to sample different types of music. Each concert is accompanied by an introductory talk and followed by a chance to review the concert with a member of the OCM team.  

During the start of 2010 OCM are working in collaboration with Oxford Inspires and BBC Oxford to help St Gregory the Great to develop its new radio station. Groups of students will be taught how to use the new equipment; interview people and produce radio programs.  Students will also have the opportunity to broadcast some of their work on The Hub, Oxford's culture show.
