International award winning trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Mathias Eick’s distinctive melodically intense style marks him out as a special new talent on the Norwegian jazz scene. He recently recorded his debut album The Door with ECM records, a work that’s distinguished by a rare combination of quiet spacious lyricism, edge and excitement. He has played with Chick Corea, was a co-founder of the jazz rock group Jaga Jazzist and he cites Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Kenny Wheeler, Tomasz Stanko, Arve Henriksen and Nils Petter Molvær as inspirations. He will be joined by Andreas Ulvo (from Solveig Slettahjell’s band) on piano, Audun Erlien on bass and guitar and Rune Arnesen on drums.
