Oxford Contemporary Music is seeking to appoint a Freelance Education and Outreach Officer
Freelance contract – equivalent to £22,000 pro rata, estimated 16 hours per week. Fixed term - 1 year contract (with possibility of renewal)
OCM promotes high quality new music for a wide range of local and national audiences by staging and promoting performances, commissioning new work, and by deepening understanding and appreciation of musical cultures from within the UK and worldwide.
The postholder will have responsibility for liaising with new and existing outreach partners to manage and set up projects with musicians, music organisations and composers. They will manage all the administrative and planning elements of the programme and contribute to its strategic development, including securing funding for the programme beyond 2012.
Applicants should have at least two years experience of setting up and coordinating workshops and performance based activities in a variety of community settings. They should have an up to date working knowledge of the music curriculum and current priorities in the education sector.
The post-holder should have excellent communication and organisation skills. They should also have the ability to plan strategically and experience of developing and maintaining relationships with clients and funders.
It is desirable that applicants have experience of music projects and projects involving our target groups: young people and students, older people and black and minority ethnic communities. It is also desirable that the post-holder has their own transport and is resident in Oxfordshire.
