“If Neil Cowley's trio was the new UK jazz creative wild card last year, and Acoustic Ladyland the year before, Fraud might grab those honours for 2007.”
The Guardian
Fraud’s debut album was nominated for a BBC Jazz Award for best album this year along with other bands of their generation such as Led Bib, Acoustic Ladyland etc. Their music is a blend of funk, electronics and free improv.
Corey Mwumba is a vibes player, prodigy of Orphy Robinson and composer of electro-acoustic music, jazz, funk, soul and whole lot more. He’s one of the Serious Take 5 young artists supported by the Jerwood Foundation this year to do a year’s training and development to help with their careers. His music is original and hugely imaginative.
Orphy Robinson is one of the most exciting performers on Vibraphone, Marimba and Percussion to have emerged on the international scene for years, a Founding member of top band Savanna, he has also played with the likes of Courtney Pine, Andy Sheppard, and the groundbreaking big band Jazz Warriors. Orphy has entered a new phase in his music with a brilliant set of material, combining jazz, contemporary classical, african and funk influences.
Futuresound brings you the hottest and freshest new talent on the scene and is supported by Arts Council England, South East.
