Bringing together some of the most dynamic
young British artists, powerplant explores hi-octane percussion-led
music with an electronic sound and strong visual performance.
It is led by percussionist Joby Burgess, who is best known
for his musical innovation in the New Noise Duo and Ensemble
Bash. He is joined by the feisty and fresh Elysian Quartet,
whose music can be heard in clubs as well as concert halls.
Fusing the best in new British contemporary classical music,
alongside the hypnotic rhythms of Steve Reich and the work
of legendary electronic dance music pioneers Kraftwerk, powerplant
is building an experimental and challenging repertoire with
a heady mix of live-sampling, lush strings, stunning visuals
and a little 80’s chic.
'No strangers to the weirder reaches
of electronica, the steely Teutonic shimmies of Kraftwerk
at their best take on a whole new dimension in such capable
hands.' The Metro, London
Gabriel Prokofiev - String Quartet No.
