Luminox will be a transformational event
that will bring together art, music and spectacle in one of
Oxfordshire’s most historic places. It is one of the
key events to launch the 2007 celebrations that mark one thousand
years of Oxfordshire.
For three hours each night Broad Street
will be turned into a transcendent environment by the light
of a thousand flickering fires, created by renowned French
art group Carabosse in collaboration with Oxford-based artist
Ted Dewan. The street will become an atmospheric piazza for
public promenade and relaxation allowing you to experience
the city centre in a unique way.
In the middle of the street will be a
band-stand which will host a live music programme curated
by OCM to create an evocative sound world in which to enjoy
Luminox. The music ranges from graceful folk tunes to string
quartets, from Japanese flute music to gentle electronica.
Artists include Spiro, Daniel Weaver, Clive Bell with Melissa
Holding, Jali Fily Cissokho, Mary Hampton, The Téa
Hodzic Trio, The Elysian Quartet, Sleeps in Oysters and Emily
Burridge with BJ Cole.
Luminox is supported by Arts Council
England, South East, BMW Group Plant Oxford, Malmaison, Oxford,
Lucy Properties, The Big Bang, Modern Art Oxford, Oxford City
Council and Oxfordshire County Council.
