The Sheldonian Theatre has become one of Oxford’s
main venues for musical concerts and recitals. It was built
in 1664-8 to a design by Sir Christopher Wren with the purpose
of providing a venue for meetings and ceremonies of the University,
and this remains its main purpose today.
