Spiro update: you can hear Spiro again as part of Luminox,
a giant fire installation in Broad Street, Oxford, between
15th – 17th March 2007. Look for the OCM bandstand!
Bristol based group Spiro set their tunes to classic and
captivating animations from around Europe. Oxford Contemporary
Music together with South Hill Park helped Spiro to produce
this show with a specially designed set by Stuart Nunn that
was installed between films in the Phoenix Picturehouse. Their
music is based on English folk tunes but also has a lot in
common with Steve Reich or Yann Tiersen (Amelie).
“The Spiro event was just quite astonishing. I came
out in a daze, quite literally. The selection of short films
formed a fascinating range from different times and genres.
The music provided for a different interpretation and was
a perfect compliment. A great live event that has stayed with
me.” Audience Member
Produced by OCM & South Hill Park Arts Centre.
Set design by Stuart Nunn.
Original music commissioned by Theatre Alibi
