Doesn’t everybody love shopping?
Doesn’t everybody enjoy the thrill of acquisition from
time to time? What happens though, when this tips over into
obsession? This wickedly funny production follows a privileged
young man’s journey into compulsive stealing, his clashes
with a dancing chorus of over-zealous shop assistants and
trips to Shoppers Anonymous.
The productions of The Opera Group are
well known for their vibrant theatricality and vivid storytelling.
With music by award-winning rising star Edward Rushton and
tongue-in-cheek libretto by Dagny Gioulami The Shops looks
set to be another “accessible modern classic”
- as the Independent described Blond Eckbert, last year’s
visually stunning performance by The Opera Group.
Pre-show talk at 6.30pm. Please book
your free ticket at the Box Office.
