Originally
from New Orleans, Abram Wilson has fast become one of the
most important trumpeters on the UK jazz scene. His latest
show takes the audience on a journey through the life of the
fictional musician Albert Jenkins, a partly autobiographical
character. The story combines hip hop, jazz, mardi gras, and
delta blues to tell of rebellion, excess, life on the road
and its consequences!
Bandmate of lauded sax player Soweto
Kinch, Abram has combined 3 bands for this project - Londorleans
Brass Band, Delta Blues Trio and his own Septet - to make
a mighty 10 piece line up. In their outings so far they’ve
received much praise, from standing ovations at their debut
at 2006’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival to a sold-out London
Jazz Festival date at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
“Vibrant, confident, and just damn
exciting.” Independent
