Jazz singer Alison Bentley has been encouraging the generations to sing! During the Spring of 2006, Alison visited the Shotover Day Centre and St Francis Primary School and discovered a wealth of knowledge and memory through song. Pupils from the school and the day centre shared their songs with each other and Alison gave workshops to develop the voice and to teach some new songs to both groups. Some of them were inspired by Senegalese singer-songwriter Nuru Kane, who also visited the Day Centre in March and gave a performance to pupils from the school and around 30 visitors to the centre.
