An OCM and Sound UK commission based on the rich collection of broadsides housed in Oxford’s Bodleian Library.
Broadside Ballads brings together three of the UK's most innovative folk artists, fronting a five-piece band that will reinvent a collection of British broadsides. Broadside ballads - disposable song sheets sold for pence - give a rare insight into Britain's musical and political past, with themes still relevant today. Delving into the colllection of Broadsides at the Bodleian Libraries and beyond, singers and multi-instrumentalists Sam Lee, Lisa Knapp and Nathaniel Mann bring to life the Broadsides Ballads for a new generation.
Lisa Knapp - voice, fiddle, autoharp
Sam Lee - voice, Jews harp
Nathaniel Mann - voice, bowed banjo, electronics and meat cleaver
Seth Bennett - double bass
Pete Flood – percussion
